HJ’s British Hairdressing Business Awards 2019
Independent business Hunter & Walsh in Penzance has been named one of the country’s most outstanding salons after securing a finalist place in HJ’s British Hairdressing Business Awards 2019.
Capturing the attention of a host of industry judges with its all-round brilliance, Hunter & Walsh is one of just six companies in the UK now in reach of winning Salon of the Year 2, sponsored by L’Oréal Professionnel. The category celebrates a single independent venture with an annual turnover of less than £350,000 that is excelling in all aspects of business.
Showing strength across the board, Hunter & Walsh stood out for its proven business growth, customer care and marketing strategy, as well as its understanding of how to deal with complaints. Further setting them apart was the salon’s training policy, and their eye for assessing performance and making improvements.
Commenting on the announcement, Jayne Lewis-Orr, executive director of HJ’s British Hairdressing Business Awards said; “To be named a finalist in the Salon of the Year 2 category confirms just how exceptional the team at Hunter & Walsh is. To be in with a chance of winning this award, teams need to show wide-reaching excellence. We are looking for financial health, strong customer relations, an intelligent and creative marketing campaign and systems that care for the staff team and ensure their professional development. This company certainly showed all these elements and stood out as a very impressive business. We wish them the best of luck.”
On their success, salon owner Vivienne Johns says: “We have worked really hard at shaping a thriving salon, and we’re delighted to be nominated. I’m so proud of our team for delivering a high level of excellence day in, day out, and for producing such a beautiful business – it’s totally a team effort.”
HJ’s British Hairdressing Business Awards, now in its 21st year, promote professionalism, innovation and excellence, while recognising those individuals and teams who work tirelessly to raise the profile of the hairdressing industry and make it vibrant and growing. Currently over 287,000 people work within the hairdressing, barbering and beauty industries*; contributing over £7bn to the UK economy each year. It’s an ever expanding industry too, with over a third of salons in 2018 (41%) noting that their turnover had increased from the previous year.**
HJ’s British Hairdressing Business Awards will take place on 9th September 2019 at the Park Plaza Hotel, Westminster Bridge, London.
